Come see what happens in people’s lives when they discover God through the study of His Word, the Bible. Each class participant receives a course book with a commentary and home study questions. Each week, you’ll participate in a brief opening, a core group discussion of the questions in the study for that week, and a wrap-up lesson taught by the Teaching Director at the end.

We will begin our study this year with the books of Ruth and I and II Samuel. We'll see how Israel moved from anarchy to monarchy, from instability to stability, and from tabernacle to temple. We'll also spend considerable time with the people who made these transitions--Samuel, Saul, and David chief among them, but also Hannah, Eli, Jonathan, Joab, and Absalom. This study helps us realize that these people's hearts and minds were not that different from ours. More than anything else, we'll see through this study the overarching presence of the who never changes. God's sovereignty and kingship are on display throughout these three Bible books.
Next is Ephesians, a letter written by Paul nearly 2000 years ago which is incredibly fresh and relevant to readers today. People living in the Roman Empire in the first century were embroiled in ethnic and class divisions. The moral fabric of society was disintergrating. Worship of the true God was scarce, whereas worship of false gods flourished. People lived in fear and confusion. It was into this context that Paul wrote this letter to combat error in the church, and to encourage authentic worship of the one true God.
